Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

The grey bird's comb is not pink at all.
The cream bird's comb, on the other hand, looks slightly pink. UGH!

Oh Elwood! You are one handsome fellow!

Thank you so much for posting these two up. I have been wondering what Buff Orpington X EE's would look like. He is precious! And I am now more excited than ever at the prospect of breeding my chosen EE rooster to our Buff and Black Orpington hens in the spring. That's ironic that you had only 2 roos hatch out of your eggs. We incubated 24 and got 6 to hatch. 5 of those were roos. Now I must just decide which one to keep and which ones to send back to my Aunt's.

I suspect it depends on how the genetics fall. I agree he is a handsome boy.

This is their father. He died last spring from a foot infection we had been fighting for a year or more. That is what I love about EE's. No 2 of them are exactly alike.
Butch was beautiful. I can see why you wanted another of him!

Quote: Even at 9-10 weeks, I'm still leaning toward cockerel. The comb looks like a (mostly) single comb and the wattles are fairly large for a pullet. The patchy coloring is more like a male's also.

Is this bird an EE? Doesn't look like it got many of the expected EE traits. Nice looking, though.

Just realized these are your first two posts. Welcome to BYC!

I'm new to all this I have a little grey ee too along with my 4 hens and 2 muscovy ducks. I was told they were easter eggers but now I'm not sure the little grey is pure grey with no markings but its quite short where as this one was bigger. As a few days old this one was the biggest of the bunch n my grey was the smallest. I'm hoping for girls I can c any saddle feathers on this one so I'm still holding hope

I got a dark buff hen with some lighter lacing and a white roo with "smut spots" lol also the others that hatched from that breeding they were all red or buff for the hens and white with markings for the boys that was an ameracauna hen and a buff roo
