Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

What does squatting look like? What does the egg song sound like? My one 15week old girl has started to bend down in a squat position if I try to pick her up. She hasn't done that before. Also, she has just started to get extremely loud in the morning for a short period of time but it's so much bawking.

The squatting is the submissive position the hens give to the rooster. They tend to get more vocal & practice squatting as they're getting closer to laying their 1st egg. The combs also get red. It may still be weeks away, but you'll want to get nest boxes ready. It also helps to add a golf ball so they know it's a safe place to lay.

As far as the egg song, you'll just know. Kind of a loud "Ba Ba Ba BAWK" repeated several times....The hens are so proud & make quite a ruckus. (The first time I heard it, I went running to the coop in fear there was a predator attack. One hen started then they all joined in. Even the rooster!) There's plenty examples on Youtube . Some hens are quiet, some always make a big deal.

Gosh that's exciting. That's exactly what my 15 week old girl is doing. Her comb and wattle have redden more and she is making that noise in the morning. The other girls just look at her like what are you doing. I had to add some sound proofing to the coop to help with her noises In the morning. (We live in the city so it try to keep them quieter). Hopefully it works. She is still young so I will keep my eyes open for an egg.

I have had their nesting boxes ready with golf balls in each bed since they were 6 weeks old. Wishing thinking they were all hens. Hahah. They are free ranged during the day so hopefully they know to lay there.

I'm hoping someone can help. We have a 4 and a half week-old EE chick who has sort of... never been like the others. Her (or his?) feathers are weird and kind of stick out; she's always been small and round; her wings are kind of awkward and short. She's not the greatest genetic specimen. Whatev. I love her anyway, because her personality is delightful. That said, her feathers are finally catching up to everyone else's, and the coloring is different. Plus, there's a comb coming in. And she has kind of stocky legs compared to the others... Is this a cockerel?
could she have feather eating mites?

Anyone want to take a guess at sexing these gal/guys? They are 8 week old EE and silver laced wyandotte mixes.

I know the white and brown one is a rooster...he's been trying to crow already. I'm pretty certain the partridge looking one is a hen. The two black ones I'm uncertain about.

Both have pretty small combs still, one is a rose comb, small and fairly light still...but something about how that one holds it tail/tail shape makes me wonder if it'll be a boy.

The second has a small pea comb, a bit redder than the others but not nearly as red as the confirmed rooster.

Im thinking the curled tail black one is a boy, compare his hackles to the others.
Whats the Daddy look like? Sometimes a look at his type can give some clues to possible sex linked traits.

Very good looking set of EE's!

Submissive squat:

Egg-Song (It's very loud): Bawk, bawk, bawk, bawk, BACKAWCK!

here are a couple more shots...hope they are better, again 5 weeks old...I truly hope its not a roo...I sadly have at least 3 others at 10 weeks, I will hate to have to choose which to keep!
Sorry to say, this is a cockerel. White patches on the wings are the silver equivalent of brick red patches on a gold based cockerel. It can be harder to see on some at this age but yours is wearing them with pride. He also has early comb development showing in your other photos. No maybes here.
