Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Whether you can house them all will depend on a couple of things. If you house them in a "bachelor pad' that is out of sight of the females then they will be less likely to fight, etc as there are no females to compete for. Housing them WITH the females would be problematic not only from a fighting standpoint but also in that the gender ratio would be out of balance leading to your females being at risk of serious overbreeding.
Thank you.
Do you know what a good balance is? If i were to keep only one male, house him with the ladies 8-1... is that okay or will that cause problems for my girls?

Here are two of my Ameraucana's I can't get the other one to load in my chooser. lol These were taken just this morning. So far I am thinking Pullet but not really any expert.
Not ameraucanas that I can tell they are EE - the first one is getting pink already. Normally that would indicate Roo even of the coloring isn't showing yet. That one bears watching closely. I think the second one is a pullet. All over lacing and small/yellow comb. The 3rd one you showed I'll say roo. I see a few new dark feathers on the wing caps and it's comb is very wide. I would reserve judgement and say to wait it out, but those 2 things say roo to me.
From what I have seen having 1 roo trait this early doesn't always mean roo - but having more than 1 usually does. THat said, you see I asked for advise, too. LOL

Penny Denny has the biggest comb and probably the most hormones flowing at this point. Not surprising he's the first to crow. I expect he would be your dominant male if you were to keep a bachelor pen like Ol Grey Mare was describing. If you do keep a cockerel, try to pick the one that has the best behavior toward people. Roosters need to protect their hens without seeing humans as a threat. Especially important if you have kids around.

Howdy! Another Easter Egger newbie here. I have a lavender chick that is starting to show some wheaten coloration. I'm praying for pullet... what do you think?

Meet Bunny... (it hops, and hops, and hops)

How old is Bunny? Age matters, because if this chick is over 8 weeks, I would be leaning toward pullet. If as I expect, it's closer to 6 weeks, I would say to wait another week!

This EEer is 6 weeks old. Not red in comb like another EE I have that is definitely a roo, but the feather coloring has me leaning boy. Nothing bright or dark, yet - s/he's just too "pretty", lol... Thoughts?

It is pretty! I'm leaning toward pullet, but wait another week to be sure. I would think the dark red would be showing on the wings by now if it was a cockerel.

I love your avatar. A horse did that to my little sister when we were kids. Sis was laying over the stall window sill, and the mare picked her up by her waistband. Gently swung her around a little bit and then let her back down. Not hurt at all, so it is a funny memory!

The top 2 look like pullets so far. I'm suspicious of the comb on the last one, but could still be a pullet, especially since I don't see any dark red on the wings yet. Not confident on any of them (can you tell?

), but just because they're a little young, just at that awkward stage. You will know in a week or two. Post again!

Nigellas- THAT is 6 weeks? WOWSA! Beautiful bird. definitely striking and by comb and color pullet. Sure hope it stays that way for you (If that is what you want!)

Wishing4wings- I have no idea. It was a hold over in the bin from the previous shipment and I noticed it looked different so I nabbed it. Turned out to be an EE. :) I think about 6 weeks. I've had it for 3.5 weeks.
