That color pattern is really common for pullets, so it can be deceiving. As he gets older, the dark red will be more prominent and the breast will turn dark. He's got a pretty impressive comb for 7 weeks.

I have 3 yr old EE hens with smaller combs.

Okay, cool! Yeah, it was the coloring, and the size (he looked a bit smaller than the other roosters) and he didn't have a beard, or at least not a very big one (not a very good way to tell I know, but it seems like most EE roosters have beards) that made me confused.

Hello,
I would like to join in on this thread... I got 4 EE chicks and 2 PBR's about 7 weeks ago... by the comments in this thread i believe that 3 of the EE's are roosters... anyone care to comment...

1. Clementine Clement

2. Gertie

3. Matilda aka Lenny
.

4. Penny Penuel

5. Norma and Nugget

Thank you All :)

ACK! 6 chickens and 4 are roos. I'm sure they will all be beautiful birds, Gertie looks especially nice. Can't tell what the boys will look like until they are older.

I am pretty new to the easter eggers so I am not sure what I have here. Hopefully you guys and gals will be able to help me out. Here are a couple pictures of my 3:

The main one I am concerned about being a roo is Pancake (forefront in pic):

But maybe there is more than one roo? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Nope all girls. They would all have much bigger combs at that size if they were roos. One of mine started laying at 5.5 months, the other at 6 months.

Howdy! Another Easter Egger newbie here. I have a lavender chick that is starting to show some wheaten coloration. I'm praying for pullet... what do you think?

Meet Bunny... (it hops, and hops, and hops)

No expert but I would say she but not completely sure. I am new to this also.

I knew we were going to end up getting all roosters... lol
We got day old chicks and picked them out ourselves. I don't think i will be able to safely keep all 4 but i would like to try to keep one.
Does anyone know how long they could remain together before they fight each other, if that would happen? I also have 6, 1 year old hens outside I am going to have to introduce them soon

Whether you can house them all will depend on a couple of things. If you house them in a "bachelor pad' that is out of sight of the females then they will be less likely to fight, etc as there are no females to compete for. Housing them WITH the females would be problematic not only from a fighting standpoint but also in that the gender ratio would be out of balance leading to your females being at risk of serious overbreeding.
