Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

This is a great thread! I got 2 EEs from a friend of mine about four weeks ago. My avatar is the chicks the day I brought them home. They were four weeks old at that time. My friend got them as three day old chicks from an "Amerucana" breeder and was told that they were pullets. The other chicks were killed by a raccoon so I only have my other chick to compare her/him to.
After reading here, I am starting to have some concerns about the orange and white chick. S(he) has a dark red splotch on each shoulder and when I look at the new feathers coming in under the patterned white and orange feathers on her/his shoulders they are coming in a dark red. On both of them, the combs have quickly (over the last few days) gone from pale, to dark orange and now to reddish.
The chicken in question is now starting to show more comb farther up on the forehead. I took some pictures of them a few days ago, but I am not sure how to post them or if there is a certain number of posts that I have to have to put up pictures.
Of course "Izzy" is my favorite and is very outgoing and friendly. Right now they are in a crate in my bedroom at night as I don't have a proper coop yet. When I take the other chicken out for some one on one time Izzy pitches a fit, hollers and tries to get out of the crate. When I have Izzy out the other chick peeps but settles down quickly and is quiet.
Sorry this is so long. I will try to post current pictures as soon as I can figure how to do it.
Does any of this sound like rooster behavior? I live in the suburbs and we are only allowed to have four chickens and they have to be female Praying for a pullet. I adore this chicken!

Good luck. My chicken in question just started crowing this morning, it was the cutest thing I ever heard he was trying so hard. Since we named it Elenor after the chubby chipmunk we will now call him Mr. Elenor. I just hope we can keep the neighbors bribed enough to keep him.

Certainly sounds suspicious, but we really need some pics. Make a few more posts and it should work for you. (maybe in the New Members Introductions under the Social forum)

Here are our 8 week old Easter Eggers Peanut Butter, Nutella, and Muffin. They were sold as Ameraucanas but the people in the Ameraucana thread told me that maybe only Muffin is actually an Ameraucana. I've been reading this thread, but I still am not seeing enough of the differences to help me decide what they are, so I am hoping you can help. Peanut Butter and Nutella are not especially friendly and will yell at me when I try to pick them up (even though we've done it daily since they were born), but Muffin is really sweet. Peanut Butter is black, white, and brown. Nutella is black and orange. Muffin is all white with a very flat comb. If you can tell me what I might have here, I'd really appreciate it. Also, I have more pictures, if these aren't the right angles. Thank you!

Based on that one picture, annie, I'd say it's a cockerel.

Muffin is most likely a cockerel with a comb that red. He could be an Ameraucana, but there are also plenty of pure-white Easter Eggers. What color are his legs? Greenish, and he is an Easter Egger. Blueish/grey, and he is possibly an Ameraucana.

I would say that Muffin's legs are green, but I don't have a lot to compare too. That's funny that Muffin might be a cockrel, since it was the only one I was sure was a pullet. Muffin is super cuddly and always wants to lay on my lap. I didn't think roos would be like that, but these are my first chicks. We are still building their coop outside, so they are temporarily housed in my basement with the treadmill and my book collection (as you can see). Can't wait to get the coop finished! Here are more pictures of them.

This one of Muffin is a little blurry, but you can see that there is starting to be a slight peach colored patch on the tops of the shoulders.(My daughter named her btw)
