Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

was sold as amercuana. Think it is. Ee girl I hope. ???

72Lark, I think it would have been easy to mistake this bird, when younger, for a female because you usually see the red wing patches, which this guy is lacking. He's a gorgeous color and already has the makings of a beautiful tail. Any chance you can keep him?
The coloring really threw me off. As soon as I saw the hackles & saddles coming in, I started wondering(worrying). I think I caught him crowing this morning. He's in with another roo(got them at the same age), and they get along for now, but I'm not sure if they'll continue to get along.
I can keep roosters where I live, but I already have 2 other roosters, about the same age, and so far, it looks like I have 2, if not 3 more from our last hatch.Currently, I have 2 separate flocks, so that we can keep 2 roo's, but IDK what we gonna do now...

Updated picture of Lotus as of yesterday!
20-22 weeks old I believe.
Her comb is still REALLY small and hardly any red. It has three rows. A pea comb I think?
I'm thinking she'll be the last chicken to lay. (not including the silkies- they're younger)
I'm crossing my fingers for blue eggs! Or green.. but blue would be awesome!

Quote: He probably carries the blue shell gene (usually goes with the pea comb in EEs) so if you plan on breeding in the future and like colored eggs, he would be a good candidate. I think temperament is important - how he acts toward the girls and, maybe more importantly, how he acts around people. I rehomed my EE roo because he acted like he was gonna get me. Never actually did, but I wouldn't turn my back on him. One day he jumped up 6' off the ground to try and get me through a window.

Rehoming him caused a major personality change, and the lady who took him hasn't had any trouble.

Hey guys my EEs are 7-8 weeks old. Any ideas on sex yet?

Sorry they were hard to get pictures of.

Her coloring is beautiful just like her name. I'm waiting for my 21 week old pullet to start laying. Hoping for green or blue also, but she has a modified single comb so my chances are slim.

I am loving seeing all the different colors of EE's here. I have been reading and reading and I *think* mine are all hens, but I suppose time will tell. They are only 4 weeks right now.

All of our EE's have been mellow. He is really skittish around the hens that he's in with. Really, the only other bird that he doesn't have a problem with is our other little roo(BBxSS mix).

Lotus says thank you ;) We got quite lucky with her! This was her when she was little- she changed a lot!

She was the smallest one in the group of EEs and she is our dominant chicken. It's a shame though because she can be a bully- especially to my Barred Rock.
And she's kind of skittish.. how is your pullet? o: Friendly, or?

All my chickens have plant-based names except for two. x) Lotus, Laurel, Nettle, Mallow, Olive, Teasel, Berzillia, Willow, and Sunflower! (And then Gracey and Albedo.)
And I gave two roosters away named Dahlia and Roan (formerly Rose).

Awww! I wish you the best of luck in the eggs being green or blue! x) My mom and I have a money-less bet going on. I say blue and she says green x) I'm hopeful and excited!

I have a 12/13 week old EE, any way of telling what color eggs I might get??? I know some go by leg color or comb, take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks
