Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I think my favorite EE pullet from this year might be a cockerel. S/he is 6wks old.

This one is unusual. The rust color on the back makes me think cockerel, but I can't be sure. I would watch to see if the tail get longer and curvier and any new red patches on the back. Any one has a similar chicken?

That's what has me confused...I've looked at thousands of photos trying to find one like it and cant. I have found a few different rooster pictures that I could see it possibly looking like at some point but a lot of color will have to come in for it to...

any idea? they are one week old.

Bernard: he is getting big and has the most distinct colors on hi back..

Marley junior: sees to be smallest (of all my 23):

about 4 weeks old? Maybe 5?

Black/white/brick red is a male combo. I know of no exceptions. So, my vote is that he'll be a stunning rooster even if he looks a bit girly now. I hope you update as it matures because I'd love to see that. It's definitely an unusual look!

What do Y'all think about this little one. It's supposed to be a pullet. May be too young still, it's 2 1/2 weeks.

I see orange. It's early yet but this can go one of two ways. You have an orange pullet or it gets brick red on the back/wing areas and you have an orange rooster. If you are seeing brick red that I cannot see in your picture, it's a male.

Have an orange-buff hen. She looked like this as a juvenile:

Notice the shades of orange/rust but no brick red.

I have a girl/boy that looks very similar to yours. S/he is mostly black and white but we have more white on her and her partridge coloring is very distinct. I'll try to get a picture of her later today when it warms up. (She better be a girl b/c I don't want 4 EE roos!)

I will definitely try to keep everyone posted. I knew I shouldn't have picked a favorite out of the group...it just doomed it to be a male!

The color in the photos almost looks brown/chocolate color, at least on my monitor. In person its definitely a rust color, or brick red. There's so little of it, I was hoping for pullet but I haven't seen any pullets near this coloring.

I've seen photos of a number of black pullets with a little color bleeding out of the black, usually white. Of course I over sold our EE's this year and literally only have this one left.

We do have a dozen shipped standard eggs in the incubator and 3 bantam EE eggs of our own so hopefully we'll have a good hatch and get a few pullets out of the deal.

I hope I didn't mess the quote up.

One week is really young, what I did though is marked with a hair elastic the ones with slow feather growth in the first week, to watch for roos, as my reading last year said males tend to feather slower. One I marked with two bands, as he has an aggressive roo stance from day one (I may have to eat him if he turns out to be a roo, as I can't accept an aggressive roo into my flock.) I will be sad though as he is turning out beautiful (3 weeks so no point in pictures yet, soon though, because I notice some combs are pinking up)
