Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

How old?  4+ weeks or so?  I think I see a little wattle development (EEs don't typically have wattles) and the comb looks pretty big.  Just a guess (not even an expert guess! :D ) but I'm leaning toward cockerel.

Almost 6 weeks old. I got 3 easter/olive eggers. I was thinking perhaps this was an olive egger.

any ideas what other breed of chicken she may be?
Oh, she's 10 weeks old I think and is Colombia colored. She's been outgrown by the gold sex link who is a week younger than her.
I don't think this is an Orpington, at least not pure. Wrong shape and there is quite a bit of blue in the feathers. What type of comb does she have? Orps have single combs which I think would be more visible at her age. Maybe just a pretty barnyard mix. Can you ask about possible parentage from where ever you got her?

Quote: That age makes sense. Were the OEs made with Black Copper Marans? Not sure how that would affect the comb, but the coloring fits. Really only the comb I'm looking at. If it starts turning red in the next week or 2, you've got a cockerel. I'm still on the fence, but leaning slightly toward the cockerel side. Hope some others have good opinions.

I was also thinking probably a BCM cross, but who knows!

In the last picture, that comb looks to be 3 rows, not too many girls have combs like that. So, I am guessing that it's a boy. Please post again when you know for sure.
I have the other 2 from this batch and then 4 more that are probably 4 weeks old. I will have may more postings trying to figure theses ones out. Need a calm day it sit down and photograph them all

Really hoping at least half of them a pullets...

Best picts I could get without crawling into the dog pen with them! LOL Next time I move them, I'll get ahold of them for close ups.
(Guessing)2 roos at the bottom, pullet at the top in this photo.

Pullet on Left, Same brown pullet center, different pullet on right..

Had 2 of 6 chicks in solitary pen within this one due to aggression. Kept the there for 5 days. Just put them back today.
Entire group of 6.. some you can't see well.
some the same as above....see if you can tell anything from this picts for me. Need to try to take roos to sale/swap soon All EE's,,,,,9 weeks

I am questioning the gender of my easter egger chick, which I ordered as a female. It is about 2.5 weeks old now, but the tail feathers semi-fan out in a vertical fashion versus parallel to the ground. This chick also stands taller and is larger than the other chicks (although the rest are of different breeds). I know it may be a tad too early to actually confirm my chick as a cockerel, but thought I'd ask since I am worried. I would include a picture, but I don't have my camera with me at the moment. I can add a picture later. Is this in any way a sign that I have a young cockerel in my flock? I hope not, since I don't want to have to re-home any of my babies.

Thank you very much!

Ok, here is another guess what the gender is post. I recently purchased 3 chicks one of which is an Ameraucana or more likely an EE. There were all supposed to female but today I saw the EE doing what I can only describe as a silent crow. S/he did it about 3 times around 2 this afternoon and has not done it before or since. S/he is 7 weeks old and we have had the chicks for about 10 days. Let me know what you think, roos are not allowed in my area.

Thanks,
Dave

r3tic,

I see girl...but I'm no expert and maybe I want to see girl because she looks a lot like my little EE/BO cross that is about four weeks old. Plus I couldn't see the comb very well. Curious to see what the experts have to say! : )
