Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Thank you. She's my fearless hen who chases squirrels. She also steals treats whenever she has opportunity. We have a mixed flock here, but I'm sure you'll love having an all black hen. They look so pretty when the sunlight bounces off their feathers with a shiny, green iridescence. You may also find that the pullets become very tame/friendly once they start laying.

This is my EE rooster:

Daughter:
(one of them anyway)

Nice looking birds, where did you get them? OK, I know where you got the 3rd one (just in case you decide to be a smarty pants
wink.png
) My EE's body feather pattern is the same as that one including the black tail but the neck and head feathers are different. Don't you love the intricate pattern on each feather?

The rusty red/brown on the rooster should give everyone wondering if their chick is a he or a she a good idea of where to look for the tell tale signs when people say "on the shoulders".

These birds could be from my flock. My Jake looks just like your rooster. He is a very good boy -- aggressive only with predators and the young roos. My hen who looked like yours was killed (my my big puppy) last spring (fortunately no repetition of that awful day) and the daughter is marked much like one of the chicks that hatched about a year ago (she lays dark brown eggs -- there is some Marans in her mother).

I love it that you never know what you are going to get. It's like a surprise package as each chick develops

I got his Parents from a friend who got them from a hatchery, Mt healthy or ideal I believe. I selected him out of about twenty other EE roosters, for his size, personality, and coloring, and also because he was raised by natural incubation (I like to keep breeding roosters raised by broodys, since they won't be aggressive and they grow out better) And also because he should have two genes for blue/green eggs.
