Because you have 3 of the same kind, if there's a roo he'll stand out in a few weeks.
In some breeds, you can tell early by the wing feather growth. (A slow grower = male). For most chicks, the changes in comb happen between 4-6 weeks.
Man! Just lost my lighter one. Down to 1 out of four. So sad they didn't do well. All my other chicks are very healthy!
I have a EE from a RIR brown egg and a EE Roo I'm wondering if he has blue gene will it possibly she may lay a dark green egg ?Thanks. They're not as dark now but still olive. Her dad was an EE that hatched from a pink egg & Mom (a true mutt) laid brown eggs. The army green egg was a surprise. Many of the roo's offspring now lay blue, green, or olive eggs, so I'm fairly certain he carried that blue egg gene.

Yes, it's possible. The gene for blue shells is dominant. If the rooster has a pea comb and your pullet EE also has one, the chances are better. Egg probably would be regular green. Dark green (olive color) takes a cross with a really dark brown layer like Marans, Penedesenca, or Welsummer.
Sorry to hear that![]()
What seems to be happening to them?
