Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

AMelia- The second picture I think I see some saddle feathers. The shots are very washed out... Any chance you can get a top shot without the glare? I've seen a few of this coloration turn into hens after all and I'd like to see if nothing else just to compare later and see what it ends up being. I've got one coming up I think is turning these colors.

Not now. He's recovering from being plucked by our dog. His back is pretty naked now. His tail feathers are gone too. The night after I took these pictures. There are pictures I took last night of him in the bath tub in a thread in the injuries section.

This is one of him while they're hanging out in the bathroom. His wings are covering his naked back. His feathers are gone from his wings to his tail. He has a few little tail feathers left.

Well, in five days my little crew have all developed a darker coloration and growth to their combs. Now I"m worried that all of them will be roos. HA! I'm still holding out hope as they were all "pullets" and surely at least 2 of 4 will be girls, right?

Here's the latest...

This picture is washed out- but look how wide that comb is all the sudden!? (last week on right)

The wheaten is really showing now, but seems to be laced and barred.

There is the color. The comb is still small though, so holding my breath another week. Last weeks on the right.

I will update again, but thought for the sake of watching what develops I'd post here.
How old are they in the recent pics? Wouldn't call either of them cockerels (yet). Waiting for next weeks installment.

Wishing- me, too!!! The blue/wheaton is coming on 7 weeks this week and the tan/black is 6.
Coloration wise the tan/black is all girl, but the comb spreading has me worried. LOL

Newer photos of my EE suspected Rooster. lol as he grows the more I see differences in the ones I am pretty sure are hens. The comb isn't coming in very big but it is pretty pink.

Here is one that I go back and forth with - still I think pullet more because I want to will it to be. lol

Here is my last EE - I lean towards pullet but I could be wrong. I know the comb tends towards the pink but nothing else screams roo unless I am just not seeing it - I am comparing it to the first one.

I am pretty sure they are between 6 to 7 weeks old. I think closer to 7 weeks.

Check legs and stance too! My EE boys developed magenta combs overnight, so it's not necessarily something that gradually does anything. I'm not seeing anything here that particularly screams either. Middle one is certainly female. The other two seem more female than otherwise by these pictures, but keep an eye on 'em and post more pictures later!

Puffing out his crazy head feathers at me.

In the pictures his legs don't seem too much different in size than the hen. I guess when I'm looking at them he's always in front of her and her legs are little more boney and his are just filled out. He does have bigger toes though.

He's always puffing up his feathers and standing between me and the hen. He makes her sit down in the corner if I get too close. You can see a few wayward head feathers poking out in crazy directions while he's puffing up at me. I'll pet him and smooth them down and back out they come if I don't back away from the tub. He is so mad at us. He just stands there grumbling at us and giving us the stink eye if we're within a few feet of the tub. He's conflicted, he sees us coming and he gets excited, because food. Then he remembers he's mad at us, because of the dog, so the closer we get the more he can't decide if he should be excited about food or if he should peck us. He is healthy aside from the lost feathers and we were going to put him back in the yard, but he and the hen that is injured more seriously are getting along so well. He's not picking at her, and they stay side by side all day. So even though I know his injuries weren't serious and I probably could have put him back outside yesterday, I've left him in with her.

I think the only reason I think he's bigger than the hen is because he keeps puffing up and trying to look big and scary. He's been fooling my eyes but he can't fool the camera. The hen is about 1 week older than him. She was purchased a week before he was, but I also think the EE was younger at the time of purchase than the gold lace's were. I know he is at least 1 week younger than the other chickens. He is definitely heavier than she is though, can't fake that.

@vweers if your dark one is a roo I am in trouble because it looks exactly like my 2 that I am thinking are pullets. One I have posted a couple times and still all vote pullett.
