A very poorly laced wyandotte. "Purebred" chicks from a hatchery are not usually going to meet breed standard. I have hatchery barred Rocks that look more cuckoo than barred, some don't even have barring on their primaries. I have one Australorp that has yellow feet and a couple white feathers. Hatchery birds are great if you don't mind that some "breed" features might be a bit off.

If you want a properly laced wyandotte, your best chance would be with a breeder that shows their birds. Most feed stores source their chicks from big hatcheries. My local stores sources from Ideal. Other big ones are Cackle, Meyer, and McMurray.

Hello fellow EE lovers! These are my two newest additions.... Sparrow and Pearl. The pics were taken today, so they 2 days short of 4 weeks old. I'm hoping they are girls, but if we end up with a mild-mannered roo, I'd be okay with it I think. I'd rather have a layer though!
Sparrow (brown) is probably the most outgoing, curious, friendly chick I've ever had. Pearl (white) is the complete opposite - scared of everything! We've been working with her to ease her anxiety. So far so good.
So far, no roo signs. Sparrow has some auburn coloring, but it's not patchy. (Except for the fact that her feathers are coming in still.) Pearl's comb is more pinkish than Sparrow's, but I think it's because her skin is naturally more pink. She's been more pink since we got her as a "day old". Her stance is more upright, but she is always behind Sparrow - not in front like a roo would be. I know white EEs are often boys, but not always. I picked a darker yellow chick thinking it wouldn't be white and I'd have less of a roo chance. LOL She's also smaller than Sparrow.
I've had my thoughts about Sparrow being a roo too, but her coloring seems pretty pullet-ish. It's actually more dull in person. The pics are kind of vibrant.
Anyway, I guess time will tell!! We have 6 other hens, and 2 of them are EEs. We love them and wanted to add more.

PS - Sparrow has crooked toes. I had to splint them today. Thankfully they aren't too bad.

My replacement Easter Eggers chicks. 4 days old



This *breed* has become my favorite for egg production and friendliness. I have fun trying to figure out what color they will end up being.

Here are the same chicks at 5 weeks today. Some amazing color changes with feathers now. Awh the skanky look!

the little black hen I posted before hatched out two gorgeous chicks for me. A friend told me she looked to be an EE mix of a Sumatra. And yes her chicks look like those I googled.
I have so much trouble with this site. IE apparantly has issues with it.


And the buff hen that looks like she is mixed with a light Brahma gave me this chick.


It looks like I might have three Blue Wheaton colored chicks and three or four blue's out of the 10 chicks I have all together. These are two weeks.

funny, when I picked her this is NOT what I was thinking she would turn out like.

Wow, my first 3 EE chicks I picked are identical to that first one, and then I got another like them a week later. I also got two like your second one. Look like BlueWheatons, and a few blues. Can't wait another two weeks to get mine all together and take more pics for my photo journal of them. Two black chicks turned to black gold speckledy and a dark grey or blue.

Just hoping to get more input..... Wanting to figure out if my EE is a cockerel or not. She's beginning to get the same feathering from her neck on her saddle. The feathers look pointed but have a thin white lining around it that makes it look some what round at a closer look. Any suggestions? She's about 9 weeks old.
