The coloring on 2 of them make me think they could be roos. I bought all sexed pullets but as we all know that just gives a little better odds of getting hens.

@LadyCluck77 We probably can keep if she ends up being a he. There are so many wild roosters crowing away at all hours I don't think anyone would really notice. We aren't sure if we will or not though, we will talk with who he got this chicks from to see what we can do.

Well, I think I may have an answer on gender of my chicks ... My definite rooster is attempting to mate with the other chicks (they are only13 weeks old)! I'm assuming he would only do this with females????

Too young yet. No obvious cockerels at this point, but they will change a great deal in the next couple of weeks. Post again next week, if you can. Close ups of combs are easier if someone can hold them for you.

That is a good question. I had a certified egg laying hen that would mount and "mate" other hens. I know it was a dominance behavior, but if I didn't know better, would have sworn she was a rooster doing that. The cockerels I had were all obviously male before any mating behaviors started.

Oh, he is definitely a rooster, he's been crowing for a while. I was hoping his mounting the others meant they are hens.

Yup, I understood, just don't know. If a hen will do it maybe a cockerel will too. When my little cockerels got interested in mating, we already knew which were pullets, so there was no guessing. Cockerels were sold soon after. Never saw one try to mate another male, but they would spar a bit.

They still are not fully feathered, especially those half naked Cornish. Who would have thought that a chicken that will be big enough to eat at 8 weeks would be half naked at 4??

Anyway I don't see any obvious boys in there just yet.

Just double checking. This Easter egger is about 20 to 21 weeks, my boys keep pestering me. I say it is still a pullet but figured I would post her comb. Don't have a recent one of her standing.

It looks like a pullet that is close to laying at that age a cockerel would have obvious red shoulders and pointed hackle/saddle feathers.
