Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

@theresa hemming

Welcome!!!! I'll be hatching some EEs soon, though I won't be keeping them, I am making room for my Silkied Ameruacanas. I look forward to seeing more pics of your babies!

Hi Theresa. Your link isn't working for some reason. I would love to see your chick!

It works if you copy everything but the end img tag and paste it into the URL field.

She can fix it by editing her post and adding the start image tag:

Here's what we got in the last 2 days!! 11 eggs! I can't believe it. WoooHoooo!

If I'm doing something right, I have no idea what it is. (8 out of 13 hens/pullets are laying.) I certainly don't think the weather is the cause. It feels like -20'F out there right now & the temp is still dropping.

The green one is especially GREEN & also big for a 1st egg!

Go Easter-Orp! (Her mama = EE & daddy = lavender Orpington)

Beautiful eggs Congrats I'm getting some eggs from my new layers (26 week old orps and araucanas)

I'm hoping I did this right. Wanting to see if anyone could tell the sex of our 5 Easter Egger chicks. They were 3 weeks old on Monday. I know young but we already have one that has a comb that is already 3 distinct rows and reddening...There are 3 that are the lighter chipmunk coloring and 2 darker brown chipmunk coloring. One of the lighter is the one we suspect of being a Roo... Any one else have opinions?

Good eye. I couldn't tell much at a glance, but when enlarged, I think Junebuggena's guesses are correct. Yes if you can see 3 rows & a slight pink at 3 weeks old, then definitely a male.

I once had a female EE with 3 rows. Not the standard comb; it was x-wide & flat. Not much color to it at 6 weeks old. I gave her away as an unknown gender & she ended up being a great layer for her new family.
