Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Ok, I thought so. The first one looks like a pullet but the other two look kinda rooish :/

First guy is a cockerel.  I don't see any dark red on his wings yet, so keep an eye out for that.

I agree with dan26552 on the other chicks. First one appears to be a pullet. The other 2 are suspicious. Wait and see. They can change a lot at this age.

Can you update us in a few weeks?

Ok, so I freely admit I am definitely a newbie. The last 2 pics are of the same chick. I went back at my photos and looked at their feathering pics, and I definitely have the last one twice. I'll try again. So sorry about that. Feeling pretty embarrassed.:rolleyes:

Safe to say we all agree roo here:

And here is my camera shy, elusive chick I didn't post before.

Males with a gold base color (as opposed to silver base -blk & wht) will get patches of dark red feathers on their wings. Silver based males get patches of white, although some will get red also if they have gold genes in the mix. white wing patch on a silver based male Brahma dark red coming in on my EE cockerel when he got older, he got beautiful glassy orange over the red
I love how roosters get better as they grow! These are gorgeous!

First questionable one is probably a cockerel. Clues are thickish bumpy comb, dark red solid patch developing on wing (pullets usually have a nice even pattern covering the entire area), and will you look at the size of that leg! May be distorted by the photo, but that is one thick leg!

Second questionable one is still questionable (can't see comb well enough), but I'm leaning toward pullet with that muted coloring and smaller looking comb. If you see darker red feathers popping up on the wings in the next week or so, then it's a boy.

@mdc05 ,

Now from this angle, your bird looks very cockerelish with those chunky legs, and dark red wings. I think this one is most likely a cockerel.

This one below looks like a pullet for now.

I see you are a fellow E. Tennessean.

The 2 barred rock/EE i'm 90% sure are roosters...but i have been wrong before. The Red star/EE i'm still not sure at all. Any help would be awesome. Thinking about selling my roosters this coming weekend. They are a little over 2 months old.

If the Barred Rock was the mother, then they could only be males. The pink combs only further confirms it. The red one looks like a pullet for now.

So I'm new to raising chickens, and we just bought 6 pullets. Two of them are EE's. one of them seems really light and I know it's way too early, but does anyone want to take a shot at the gender?

If you bought pullets, then I guess pullet, because despite the mistakes, hatchery EEs are still 80-90% accurate. That doesn't help when one of your 2 pullets is a cockerel (like what happened to me), but your chances are still good.
