Hi, I'm new to chickens and completely obsessed with sexing my 3.5 week old chicks. I know it's early, so just investigating signs to look out for and learning as much as I can. I'm already sure I have a SLW roo and am suspicious of this EE we call Professor Cluck...at least a gender neutral name. We can keep one roo but not two! This one has been the instigator of the flock from day 1. Orange/red feathers coming in on the chest. Had the "chipmunk" look as a baby. Much different coloring and temperament from Eggnes, my EE from the same batch I'm sure is a pullet.

This is PC -

(PC on left next to SLW I'm sure is a roo)

And Eggnes - a gentle soul with I think pretty even partridge coloring, right?

My husband says the mystery of the chicks' sexes is really exciting and a sign his life is too boring. Lol.

A couple more of the Professor's tail. Thinner than Eggnes, sticks up a bit more.
