Agreed. Please post updated pictures in another 2-3 weeks.
We have 4 chicks we have hatched ourselves. They are 3 weeks old - I feel like I can tell the sex already based on colouring and behaviour any ideas? ... I believe the first two are girls and the second two boys - there is no doubt in my mind the last one is a roo.
I have tried to get better photos these are now at 4 weeks first three are previous chick 1 and the next 2 are chick 2 and the next 2 chick 3 - suspect first 2 pullets last cockerelLook closely at the chest feathering on #1 and 3. If it's an even, light salmony color, girl. Black splotches on red, boy. No chest feathering or not enough to see one of those two likely scenarios, wait and see.
Sunlight makes for better color representation. The pics are too shadowy for me to say with confidence but I'm thinking #4 has the blotches of young masculinity and #2 the smoothness of femininity. The partridge ones are either too dark to see or turned the wrong way.
I'm trying to confirm that my EE is a she! She's camera shy (obviously). She's in the back of all the pictures. What do you think?
I will take a close up picture when I get home I feel like it looks like a pea comb but the sister with the same parents has a straight comb. The comb is the only thing giving me pause here. Usually, the males show a hint of wing patches even this young but they just aren't there yet. So, it looks feminine aside from that comb. Can you zoom in on it? Or look up close and see if it has 3 rows of defined peas? It kind of reminds me of a rose-pea mix.
Pullet!
Thank you! What makes you say that? Coloring or features? (Not disagreeing, just curious)
