Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I have 2, 9 week old chickens. One is Dolly a Dominique who is definitely a pullet. The other, Amelia the Easter Egger, I have no clue. Any help would be appreciated as I am not allowed to have a cockerel in my county.

She/He has some shine to their tail feathers, she's more aggressive than Dolly, her feet are big, she doesn't have that roundish body like Dolly, but her comb isn't very red, it's not very big, and I've never heard her crow in any way. She also doesn't have reddish shoulders which other folks said were indicative of a male.

Here are some pictures of Amelia. She is very skittish, so I apologize for the pic quality, as we have 3 year old at home that loves her and Dolly but they are terrified of my son's loud, overly grabby ways.

Amelia is a pullet. Female chickens can have iridescent feathers, shiny feathers don't always mean male. And hatchery EEs are generally large robust birds with big feet. :)Hope you get some pretty eggs from her!

Ok, I'll throw my two EEs into the "what are they?" pool! 😁 🥰
Both 10 weeks old. Both rambunctious and loud, yelling at anyone who gets in their way in the flock of 13. I believe both are pullets, I see no orange/red anywhere, but their tails make me wonder, and their stances. In the last picture of Zippy everyone was on alert because a large bird had flown over head.

Pepper -- all black and white
Zippy -- gray, black, white, light brownish

Note the 8th pic of the 9, is a couple weeks ago. The rest are recent.

Thank you for your input!! Much appreciated!
Both are pullets! :woot

Yippeee! Thanks! On another thread I had asked about one of them, but that was a couple weeks ago and the black and white one to me, looks kinda roostery. She's very pretty and striking looking with her black and white feathers.
I guess they both don't act too roostery, except that they're the first ones to go up to the coop at night and come down in the morning. So that's what made me wonder. I do appreciate the input, thank you!
I would be perplexed if one of my EEs ended up to be a Roo because I really want those bluish eggs. Maybe that's selfish, I don't know, but that's why I got them.

The pattern on the wings says pullet. The comb is unusual, but so pale. 6 weeks now? I'm betting on pullet... there's just nothing about the coloring that says male. Still, an outside chance it's a late blooming cockerel.

Behavior is not the best indicator of sex. I had a huge EE chick, very bold and pushy, liked to jump up and cannonball the other chicks. She is 8 yrs old now, very mellow, and still laying eggs. :) Conversely, I had some Serama chicks, 2 males were obvious at 3 wks. One chick was very timid and submissive... late bloomer male showed up at 5+ weeks.

See you again next week with a new pic?

I’m back! I’m thinking pullet! Here are new pictures:

I have a few who are keeping me guessing. The first I think is a pullet, the second a cockerel (Hopefully not) and the third I just don’t know. They are 12 weeks old. Pullet bin from Tractor Supply.

1 & 3 are pullets.
2 is very pretty, unusual and flashy coloring (I've never seen before) which usually means a boy. The comb looks quite red as well. That being said, I think that is a pullet... with a pullet shaped comb. If it's a male, it's a very late bloomer.

Thank you. That is what keeps me going back and forth. By this age, I would expect a male to be more obvious, with a bigger redder comb. This one pinked up pretty early on, which is why I started worrying it might not be a pullet. But it only got to a certain level of pink and no more. I’ll just keep waiting and watching, and post a follow up later.
