Hello! I wanted to share a post regarding telltale signs you have an Easter Egger cockerel.

This was only my experience, and I hope it helps somebody identify whether they have girls or boys. Basically this is not a for sure guide, just hopefully a helpful post.

I was able to tell my cockerel at around 4-6 weeks old, and here are a few pictures to help.

(Sulo's tail feathers are narrow and upright.)

This is Munk an Easter Egger pullet to compare. Same age, but the feathering in is very different. Sulo's "big boy" feathers came in later then Munk's "big girl" feathers.

Hope this helps someone! Easter Eggers are hard to sex, and this may not be every case, but it certainly was here and I hope these differences help people tell who is who

I have NO need to earn an "A" anymore and I write what my mind tells my fingers to type. Unless it's a serious document for literature then, it's perfect with a works cited. Lol

How sad. She was beautiful. I love that taupe like coloring.
I have learned to never have a favorite. Seems they are always the ones I lose.

so here they are a week later from when i took these pictures. still only 100% on Sparky being a cockerel. Though I still think Maverik could also be a cockerel and maybe Squirt. I am hoping that at least Squirt, Dotty, Annabelle are pullets, and I am fairly certain that Ziggy is a pullet. I would be nice is Maverik is also a pullet but I have no idea yet.

Squirt and Ziggy are the most trust worthy as they will just let me pick them up, Dotty is starting to warm up to me and will let me pick her up sometimes and pet her, the rest still don,t care to be touched by me, but Maverik does like to perch on my hand sometimes. and Squirt is almost caught up in feather development, still a little sparse though. so any ideas on what they are?

also looking at these pictures, if neck length means anything maybe its only sparky and Squirt that are the cockerels, they have some serous neck length going on there.

Sparky is your only for sure cockerel at this point. The rest look like pullets. There is always a chance of the dreaded late bloomer showing up, but I'm betting on 5 pullets.

They are cute. I can't tell how many you have, though.
The comb is one of the first things to develop in a male. Male feather coloring (if they are going to have it) usually shows around 6 weeks. I cannot see the combs clearly enough on most of the chicks.

From what I can see, I suspect these are cockerels. Not 100% sure about any of them. Watch for combs turning bright pinky-red and growing thick and bumpy. Those will be your males. Female combs stay pale and relatively thin/small until they are over 12 weeks. Especially watch these 4 for changes.

I said 7 weeks but actually pushing 8 wks. What color eggs do yours lay? There is one more but I don’t have a good pic of it (her I hope!). She’s white with a few pale black spots.
