What's the temperature where you are???

Monday: 6:30pm, 35°F, feels like 29°F, dew point 18°F, humidity 50%, wind NE @ 6mph, mostly clear, some high clouds. High today was 40°F, low was 18°F. 🥶 Funny thing is only my above ground pens had frozen waterers. :eek:the non-insulated sheltered area of the ground pens had no frozen waterers.:hmm so I guess the ground stayed above freezing in the sheltered areas.

I didn't know you could peel sleet, wow. Peeled sleet. Spleet?

You guys can rub it in in eight weeks when we're dying of the heat. It was 94°/34C in March last year. It's coming up fast!
Log handled ice scraper under the sheet of ice, little up pressure and it slides right off, after I heat the cab and hood up for a while.

Cold 🥶

Northeastern Maryland, 10:45 pm. The sky is beautifully clear and the temp is currently 18F (-8C,) but it's windy, so the weather gurus call it 13. We're headed for a low of 5F (-15C) tonight, before the windchill. This is not even close to normal for this area, at any point in the year, and it's supposed to get colder! I call "Uncle!"

I LOVE the snow! It just doesn't generally come around here with such bitter temps. The whole point of getting snow was so the kids (even the big kids) would be able to play in it. That's not likely to happen with highs in the mid-teens and lows into the negatives. That almost never happens around here ... like, not in nearly 50 years!
Every kid deserves that childhood memory - and so far, this is the first generation here that hasn't had it since my great-grandmother's time. It's kinda sad, really and IMO it really stinks.
So Yes, I still want that one big snow for the littles ... even if it's not this one!

EDIT to Add: 18 F translates to nearly -8C. The lows are set to down as far as -19C. Y'all may be accustomed to that Up North, but we're not equipped to handle that, here - in body or soul!
❄️🥶❄️

That is very chilly, I hope it warms up nice and sunny so everyone can get out and toboggan down some hills ♥️ That’s super fun, I have even used an old cardboard box as a toboggan - you can get some serious speed with that going down hill!

My fingers are crossed for nice weather for you 🥰

Holy Dinah! Mother Nature has gone off the rails! That’s just ridiculous, it’s the same here, and now the Great Lakes have started freezing over their warming effect is diminished, that arctic air just flows straight south.

I am exhausted dealing with snow and cold.

Can you set up a mister or give them a shallow pan of water (with ice) to stand in? I've used ice water in a hog feeding pan when our temps got to the high 90's (like your 35-37C.) I only had to dip one hen to show them and they used it for a solid week. I took it out when the temps dropped. It might be worth a try.

Great idea, I have done this also, and they loved the floating bits of ice to peck at.
