Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Quote:
I have a couple of girls that are about 2 yrs old and they look like yours. That is 100% girl. EE make it harder to sex until they feather. I also have a pure white female that is soon going to breed with a all white Americana to see what happens. Good luck with your chicks.

Can you trust, at all sexing by personality, when chicks EE chicks are only a few weeks old. I'm sure it's not accurate with a whole brood but can you often trust that "one" that seems to stand out as "likely a roo" What do you think??

Great thread! I'd like to get some opinions on my little Peanut. Based on the color theory of sexing (and lots of other signs that seem to be showing up lately), I'm pretty sure Peanut is a roo. Peanut has a wide comb, but no defined rows, there is white fluff at the base of "his" tail, irridescent tail feathers and reddish shoulders. Also, there are black patches on "his" chest. Not sure about age, but guessing between 8 and 12 weeks.

Does everyone concur?

Trying to sex chicks based on their behavior hasn't really worked for me so far. One odd thing I've noticed is that as chicks my boys are calmer when handled and the girls are more skittish and inclined to struggle or squeak. This seems counter intuitive. One thing that has worked for me with my Easter eggers is that the girls get feathers on their heads earlier. The boys end up with feathers on their body but still have a full head of chick down and look silly. They end up looking like little bald eagles!

OMG he looks almost exactly like my black beard............... wow
will have to get a couple pictures to post I need to see if anyone has a clue about my other 2 anyway I'm almost sure 1 is a hen...almost hehe:gig
