I would say rooster based on the fact that every other one on this thread with that black/white/brown coloring has turned out to be an alarm clock not an omelet factory....

Based on mine, he'll start to get more brown splashes as he gets older.

TOLD YOU JUAN!

Also, at this age, it's better to get pics of the saddle/hackle feathers. A good clear side shot will help

Jess

hehe, I'll take another tomorrow!

What do yall think of this one? Almost 7.5 weeks old. Sorry for the # of pics-I never know which ones would be best for ID. This was sold as a pullet through Ideal Hatchery.

I'd say someone made a mistake in the sexing there..

Looks very suspiciously roo-ish to me

Double check before eating anything that comes out of it's bum

These two are the first ones to throw me for a loop in 2 years of owning EE's.

8 weeks old now...

No roo-ish behaviors from either of them, hen body, hen legs, no sickle feathers (yet), roo-ish combs and colors, no wattles

it's a wait-and-see game...

Hey guys.. I have a question.. This has nothing to do with EE sexing but I have a bunch of EE/Mutt chickens that are 18 weeks old today

YAY! Changing them over to layer feed but still have some youngins I need to keep on Starter/Grower. Ideas? Also.. how old were your EE's before they started laying??

The youngest to start laying were 16 weeks..the oldest west 20 weeks.

I have an EE hen hatched January 26th so she,s almost 24 weeks old now - not even close to laying.

Her hatch-mate sister started laying at 18 weeks
