I‘m not saying combs determine egg color, but most blue egg laying BREEDS have pea combs.

Huh. That’s cool, I didn’t know that. Now I’m gonna have to look up chickens with pea combs because the only breeds I’ve heard about are EEs and brahmas.

Combs have nothing to do with egg genes I have a pea comb and she lays brown eggs

Both genes are dominant and closely linked. They would often both be passed on together.

Where did you get your pea comb, and did you hatch with it attached?

Pure Ameraucanas and pure Arucanas have pea combs and lay blue.

Easter eggers don't have a standard so sometimes they come out pretty clean faced.

These two had a purebred wheaten ameraucana dad and layed green eggs. Nothing but clean faces.

I have a pullet that looks just like this!! I bought her at Co op in spring as a Ameraucana but she is hopefully an easter egger! What color did you lady end up laying? I also got this lady with no muffs or beard

Yes, this is my EE Chip! She lays blueish green eggs.

Thanks everyone. I’ve never heard of clean faced or muff-less EE’s before. Every pic I’ve seen they look very fluffy in the head/face. Mine looks almost hawk-like

I have two white multi-colored one with muffs and beard the other has none looks hawk-like also lol my hawk is pretty large hope she not a roo. They are 16 weeks old
