I know this is a simple genetics question and I’ve seen the answer somewhere but can’t find it now.

If I cross an EE rooster (presumably only 1 blue egg gene) to a Marans hen, what percentage of their offspring would lay olive eggs?

Thanks in advance.

You can presume around 50% to lay green eggs. Rather they're olive eggs or just green is in the eye of the beholder.
Without knowing if he carries one gene, two genes or no genes for blue eggs you can't say for sure.

Ah makes sense. I hadn’t considered the possibility of him not carrying any blue genes. I guess there’s only 1 way to find out.
