Many EE are sold is feed stores as 'americauna' or even 'araucana'. araucana is a rare breed with a high mortality rate because of the recessive gene that gives them the ear tufts. Generally if you see chicks being sold under those names it is safe to assume that they are EE. In my experience anyway. By the way, EE's are my favorite chicken (next to silkies). they are sweet, beautiful and hardy.
