Easter Egger is a rough one because there is no accepted definition of what an Easter Egger actually is. To me it means they should lay a blue or green egg but not everyone agrees with that definition. Some people think any chicken that might lay a blue or green egg is an EE. Whether or not a pullet hatched from EE’s will lay blue or green eggs is a matter of genetics. Not all do.
Some people think EE’s are made from Ameraucanas and have to have certain color legs or certain facial features like muffs or tufts. Not true at all. Ameraucanas were developed from EE’s in the 1970’s. Some hatcheries had their EE flocks before that.
Since EE’s are not a breed and have no requirements, they can be any color and pattern. They may have any color legs, may or may not have a pea comb, and may or may not have muffs or tufts. This comparison shows that an EE can look like anything.

I find this history very interesting. It not only shows that a lot of the information people think about EE’s and Ameraucanas is incorrect (it sure corrected a lot of my misconceptions), it shoes how breeds in general are developed and recognized.

Have you seen the eggs his flock lays? It’s very possible those chicks could be EE’s. Or maybe not. It’s not known if the pullets from those will lay blue or green eggs. Only time will answer that.
