I bought two sets from tractor supply. One was an Easter Egger hen set the second was supposed to be a colored egger mix. It looks to me like I have mostly Easter eggers. Do you think the crested ones are olive eggers or cream legbars? Do you see any other breeds in here?

Thanks for your input!

Ugh! I’m happy to have EE’s but was really hoping for a mix in my flock. Nineteen EE’s are a little much! Funny the mix set doesn’t mention EEs but it looks like that’s what they sent me. They were supposed to be a mix of Marans, Amercauna, OEs and some other mixes I’m not too familiar with.

TSC is just like that...

I bet you will get a few olive eggers but also betting most will lay blue.

If those are the options, you probably have "Ameraucanas" and "Olive Eggers."

Easter Egger means any chicken that lays blue or green eggs that does not meet the standard description for any pure breed. So Olive Eggers are one kind of Easter Egger, and most "Ameraucanas" sold by hatcheries are also Easter Eggers (because they would be disqualified if you entered them in a chicken show as purebred Ameraucanas.) "Easter Egger" also includes a few chickens that are supposed to lay blue or green eggs but actually produce some shade of brown (cream, pink, etc.)

The "Ameraucanas" would be the ones with puffy faces (muff & beard) and pea combs. (But they don't meet the breed standard for actual Ameraucanas, so we're calling them Easter Eggers.)

The "Olive Eggers" would be the ones with crests (probably descended from Cream Legbars and Welsummers, or some such mix.)
