A quick inquiry on EE genetics. Picked up assumed EE's this spring (advertised as Ameraucanas, but what can you do) and just looking forward a bit as I'll likely hatch a small batch next year. So, here are the questions...

1 - This is probably obvious, but I don't want to assume to understand crossbreeding and genetics so... If I have an EE roo and EE hens, will the offspring be a EE variety or do the genetics of the original breeds come through (ie. Will the chicks be EE or do they "revert" to whatever breed was used other than the Ameraucana/Araucana that was assumed to be used to create the EE originally? ... or do I not have an understanding of how EEs come to be in the first place?)

2 - Similar question I guess and an answer to (1) may answer this one as well, but here goes. For novelty I'm considering adding a Naked Neck/Turken chick or two to my coop. When they all reach adulthood, would an EE roo/NN hen create a Naked Neck Easter Egger (or again, am I wrong in my assumptions on crossbreeding).

Ultimately (just like my "Ameraucanas" being Easter Eggers) it doesn't 'really' matter. They're pets more than production, but a few eggs here and there doesn't hurt. Just trying to wrap my head around some of the basics so I can explain it to the 5 y.o. when he has questions of his own (especially during hatching attempts and the like).

Thanks!

The naked neck EE will work. People have done it with silkies. As far as reverting back from EE, I think that can only happen if you select your breeding stock away from EE traits like green legs and pea combs.
