well, went to an auction tonight, ended up with a LF Blue sumatra roo for my hen

and a pair of bantam black Sumatras....and a Yokohama hen...she was in with the blue....didnt want the yoko but....sold as a pair

so my Sumatra hunt is over, unless Keith emails me back

Hurray! Did you go to Coweta? I wanted to but DH doesn't think that is fun. Too late at night for me to go by myself. You will definitely be able to get eggs from U of A it is just a matter of when he has them available. I am picking up some Sumatra on March 8th to send to MrsMooncat for her 4-H kids.

yep, went to Coweta, probably won't be going again, seating sucks, people stand in your way, you can't see, kids running around everywhere, running into and knocking over cages and just plain being heathens. No one even attempted to discipline their children.

Don't get me wrong, I have 5 young'ns myself, but mine were taught to sit down and behave in public places like that, had they acted the way these kids did, I would have spanked them right there in front of everyone.

Think I will just stick with my closer local auction...on a different note, they auctioned off Ameraucana hens for 32.50 each
Heritage RIR's went for about 60 each...even roos. A pair of RP turkeys went for 45 each.
I was like

They did have some nice birds though, and lots of bantams...one person brought all their show bantams from Missouri, I don't think they went for what they thought they would.

Think I will grow out the Ameraucanas I bought for two bucks a piece and my turkeys I have in the bator and take them up there (maybe I WILL go back one more time..lol)

Marans were on the low side at about six bucks for full grown and pullets, but I already have 12 Marans chicks of various colors and 18 eggs, thanks to the BYC swap page....so, I better lay low on those for awhile.
