Yay! Update on the chicks:
12 shipped, 12 developed.
6 out of 6 OE hatched. All are alive and healthy, big and fat. 4 blues and 2 black, one with puffy cheeks.
4 out of 6 BCM hatched. I assisted with two. One had a twisted femur and maybe some other internal issues and didn’t make it past day 3. The other three are going great guns.
Mom did a great job adopting them about 1.5-2 d after hatch. I slipped them under her early Saturday morning and she took to them right away. The chicks spent another 2-3 d under her, not coming out very much. We had a hot spell that week so they really enjoyed running around in the broody coop floor. I like to supplement chick food with food soaked in polyvisol and I add polyvisol to the water for the first several weeks.
Now at two weeks old they are running around the growout run, jumping on moms back, flying up the ramp to the coop, eating mealworms and greens and scratch. They’re so cute. Everyone’s doing great.
