Thank you! I should have asked your name, but had to make the dash to the cage to sneak him in. It was not till he did not like one getting close to his pick of the girls that he found him. LOL He talks up a storm to you when out feeding or working on the coop. His name will end up Copper, cause hubby can't keep the names straight from one color to the next minus the cuckoos - he's taking over them. So I keep saying Copper and he tilts his head and coos back. Would like a pure copper pullet for him too. Then I'm done for awhile working with what I have. So if you have one to place/sale let me know I'll take her. Yep I can't wait too. My Splash roo has 2 Splash pullets and a blue and black pullet for himself and the wheaten roo has 4 wheaten pullets and 2 blue pullets. Cuckoo roo has 2 cuckoo pullets ,1 clean leg wheaten pullet, EE that is 1/2 cuckoo- she's a blue cuckoo. BLRW has 6 still have a way to grow pullets, Exchequer Leghorns has 3 pullets now. BC roo has one blue copper pullet. ( Needs 1 pure BC pullet) So Everyone will be set up great and I can work on my projects too.

Thanks to everyone for buying all 23 of my chicks/chickens with out buyers we are nothing but a every gowing flock. Also thanks to all who set the sales up. Let me know if ya'll need help next time.
It was very nice meeting the new sellers and seeing everyone again, enjoyed the talks and meeting all the new buyers and the returning ones.

Erin on the site can you put up a thank you letter to everyone that came?
I'm also glad she took the Java's. I had finally cracked and was going to get them if you still had them. Then I'd be sleeping w/ the chicks! No hubby cries at first then falls in love. Thank God he loves them just as much in the end. Thanks for the coop they love it and so do we.
To the two sellers I got all my new chicks from Thanks a million. We love all of them.
Peachick- that splash pullet is to die for! Her color is great love it! Ronnie loved his hens too. He loved the Black coloring when the light hit it you would have thought it was X-mas morning. Loved the color and lacing on the blue one too. I almost kept that one myself! possible roo or not!

She just might since she does the egg exchange. I would love to,but afraid I'd fall for a breed and get hooked. Kat hooks me enough as it is.

I'd kept checking with her on them I watch to see if she gets one of the breeds I would love to have.

We got one of your roos to go with our hen and I am very excited about having a small special flock with dark eggs for the household.

I just wanted to thank you for him. I noticed the hen doesn't have feathers on her leg but the roo does. They are both young birds, so will she get hers later on? I noticed you were very busy and I would have liked to ask you some more questions but I am interested in getting some more of your pullets at the next swap. What is the differences between the copper, wheaten and cuckoo marans? I don't know much about them but I am interested in the dark eggs and I like their coloring.

Also, thank you to the nice lady from whom we got fifteen Welsummer pullets. And I think it was Erin from whom we got the two pairs of Welsummers. I wish I could have stayed longer but we had lots of other things to do. I hope you can pull off one for this fall when I won't be as busy and can stay longer.

Thanks again

Great chickenstock! My brother Randy (berkeleysprings) and I had a great time. He is the true breeder of the Wheatons, but I am the one behind the sceens that spoils them rotten (home made yogurt in the summer, hot oatmeal in the winter, and any other treat that I can think of). Can't wait for the next one. Hopefully we'll have more pullets/hens to sell the next time. And I am so glad that someone toward the end took three of our roos (including my favorite). I always have a hard time seeing any of our chickens go, but it makes it easier when they are going to someone who will appreciate them. Thanks so much for orgainizing this!

The main diff. is the coloring of the feathers, black coppers lay the darkest of the marans. Cuckoos lay lighter color eggs then the others. to be a "Marans" they must lay a 4 or more on the scale. For big time breeders and hobbiest. Most of us are still working on them to get the darker eggs. The coppers are black w/coppering, cuckoos look like barred rocks (kinda-Silver Cuckoos) , well you know what wheatons look like and they are sex linked by 1 week old.
Hens will have full feathered wings and lite wheat color roos with have less feathering and be darker with no tail feathers ye unlike the hens. There is Blue,Black,Splash, Blue Copper,Black copper, Golden Cuckoos, Silver cuckoos ,White, and more. Most are named per color all still lay darker then avg. brown eggs even if it is not to the marans scale. As for the hen with clean legs she won't grow any in but all but maybe 1-2% of chicks will have feathered legs. It is not a fault unless for show then she would have to go under english standard not freanch. He does not know who is throwing a odd clean leg chick, I have one from a hatch of his eggs and I was very glad to have her cause I'm putting her in with the cuckoos hoping to get new blood and Golden Cuckoos from her. If you just have them for eggs then she will give you dark eggs with no trouble. Just something that happens with the lines he is using. No worries there.
I hope this helped you out. Randy and his sis are very nice people if you are upset w/ the hen not having feathered legs they will most likely swap a hen with you at the next sale. He offered me the same thing but I told him I had plans for mine. They have very nice Marans that came from great lines. The roo, hens and chicks are always sweet when you go to the farm . No getting nail from the Marans, now thier silkies that is diff. story there! LOLBest of luck for you and I'm sure Randy will post on here to you or pm you about it. I do have 1 warning for you ~ with the breeds you got I just have to say YOU ARE HOOKED NOW! They are great breeds to work with before you know it you will be bringing chicks to the sale!
