Does anyone know if feeding the seed pods from Eastern Redbuds are okay? I have a lot of them. I heard once that humans can eat them in stir fry but do not know that this is a reliable source. Thanks!

This article has a lot of interesting facts about the Eastern Red Bud: Pea Pods Tree. It looks like the pods (and most of the tree!) are edible for people, but there’s no mention of whether animals can eat them. It seems like it would be a yes, but always good to ask the experts on this forum.
I was wondering about them too since the Arbor Day Foundation is sending a few for filling out a survey. I’d like to plant them in the back field of our property to give my flock a place to shelter from hawks. Anyone know about them or have them in their chicken yard?
