ok, I already have this one at home http://www.tractorsupply.com/gordon-s-reg-permethrin-10-livestock-premise-spray-8-fl-oz--2212873your chickens have lice.....
go over to my page and scroll down to the permethrin body spray section...or you could use ivermectin pour-on if you wanted, but I like to keep the spray around anyway. Pick up a quart spray bottle while your out and follow the instructions to mix a gallon then use that to fill the spray bottle. You can use this on your dogs as well but not on cats

Depends on the type of chicken and then it gets down to the chicken itself... Just depends!Hey, just checking out this thread. Awesome!
Anyone know how winter laying tends to be around here? My hens will hit 6 months in December, but I wasn't sure if they would start laying then or not til spring. No big deal, just curious about what to expect.
I agree with Stanglover2001. In my experience with various breeds over the years most of the pullets lay really great the first year maybe 2 years then slow down. In the first year mine laid through the winter. I have had black sexlinks, red sexlinks, RIW, EEs, BCM mixes and just plain mutts. Good luck.Hey, just checking out this thread. Awesome!

If it makes you feel any better, I have an Ameraucana that I hatched on New Year's Day that still isn't laying! She is 33 weeks!!
Quote: that is the one I use. that alone will get rid of them usually in one application, but I do 2 apps a few days apart. Dont overdo the mix though..... 1 oz. in one gallon water is all you need...that stuff is potent. It is easier if you do it after about 10 pm when they are dead to the world on the roost. Get them wet, but not dripping. Get the down/fluff around the vent area well. Wait a few days and get them again...that should do it. If they get lice or mites again this year, I would consider doing a coop spray as well. But try just the body spray for now.
