I was thinking along the same lines on size.

1 dozen for $3.00

2 dozen for $5.00

Just didn't want to get out of line with what the going market price was.
I was selling mine for $3-3.50 and had standing orders. My eggs where primarily marans and sometimes would not fit into XL egg cartons. Now that I only have silkie and polish and they are smaller eggs I sell them for $2..they are med in size. If you know someone who is a baker...they would love your eggs. One I know bought 6 doz a week. She baked cupcakes for Calhouns in Knox. and loved that they made the cakes so fluffy.
@dncarr....my silkies do it constantly. I have a cage on the floor that I use to put the momma and chicks in so the other one sits outside looking longingly at the babies. So....sometimes if there are enough I give her a 2 couple and she waddles off with the babies in tow.

Who is going to the sale at TSC Saturday?? I would really like to have my friends next to me.

yeah...it is a weasel for certain. I saw it.,.or part of it cause they are so fast....when it had a chickens head pulled through a cage. It was underneath pulling down. I was ramming a stick underneath and it ran off. It grabs their necks and drains them. At one time I had thought a wharf rat BUT....even their size could not have gotten a couple of the 17 chickens I have lost to it. I knew it was best to use live bait and am trying to figure out how to do that without it actually getting the chicken. One thing is odd. It has never gotten a chicken younger than a juvenile. If it was a wharf rat...it would not discriminate. It only gets silkies and polish....they have little to no eyesight because of the crest so everyone has new haircuts. I am sure that is why it selected them..easy targets. Would a live young rabbit do for bait? I trap raccoons with either peanut butter sandwiches or peanut butter dog treats. I use to have a pet raccoon and those where his favorite treats. Thanks so much for the info and help isthelaw.....this has become very expensive...the white pair of SG silkies it got last week where the new ones to show this year.
My husband brought home two bunnies to put in his coyote cage. It has a cage inside the cage. But rabbits panic and their heart beats too fast for bait. They might die. (thus, we now have about $400 invested in two rabbits. His response as soon as I started playing with the bunnies was "I should've known.") A game chicken might be good. They are noisey and fiesty. They would probably be safe. I don't know anything else. I'm good with racoons, groundhogs and coyotes....but we don't have weasels. (Thank you Lord). They are like little vampires.

I kept 2 of the blue wheaten roos and only took 1 up there for the table. They are coming down in two weeks, so if you want to trade that roo of yours for one of the others let me know and we can do it the day they go back home so they can take it. (I think if we did it early, my main roo might attack him)

Everything went well BTW. Check these out (her first time bareback, 1st time on him, and only a few times on a horse in her life. I had him half trotting on a long line and she kept absolute perfect balance....they were made for each other and she is going to be a natural (crap..have to find the pics)

Ok, I am dealing with a first time broody Delaware hen. I have her seperated far away from all the other chickens under a carport. She was setting on eggs, and so far about 4 of 10 have hatched with 1 pipping. Somehow one of the other hens has found her, and kicked her off her nest. The imposter hen has taken over raising the babies. Everytime mother hen tries to get to her eggs and her babies the other hen runs her off. She (imposter hen) treats the babies like they are hers. Anyone ever had this happen? I put the imposter back over the fence, but she has flown out several times and keeps coming back and kicking out the mother hen. I should say that the one that is trying to take over had never been broody either. They are both about 6 months old.

This year is the first time I ever had a broody hen. I have 2 BCM mixes and one of them started setting. I left her on the eggs once it became apparent she was not leaving them. Well when it got close to hatching the sister went in & started setting in the same box. I thought this is not going to happen; your sister has set up to this point and I am not going to let you take her babies. So I gave her some eggs next to her sister. Well the first hatch happened & she got off the nest & took the babies

It all worked out once the hatching was done the original sister took her babies outside & the other sister sat on the fresh eggs until they hatched. The second sister turned out to be a better mom but I can't really tell them apart.

I think you are lucky my hens are at least 5 years old and this is the first time every for either of them going broody.

Rodney - I am completely and utterly jealous! I've been perusing CL looking at the horses for sale. If only I was working and had the money... Anyways, I backed out of buying the rooster from the guy who brought the many birds to our fair, but I decided I will buy the hen. I'm going to try to run by there tomorrow with some meds and hope for the best. Heard one of the roosters already died this morning... not looking good, I warned my friends who are buying some of his chickens about keeping them seperated for at least 30 days... It's hard to explain to newbies the devestation of diseased birds will bring, but I'm hoping with how they look my VetRx may help along with some Wazine (and maybe some DE?). I don't know what else to do, they're already set on getting the chickens (and already paid for them) so what do you do?

I am planning on being at the animal swap sat. At TSC in Morristown. Been to the one in Kingsport a couple of times and had a good turn out. Not selling just looking and wishing.
