Has anyone ordered from poultry hollow in middle tennessee? I just wanted to check with everyone before I placed an order. I want to make sure it's ok.

I haven't had experience, but I don't get a great vibe off their site and probably would never order from them. Like how you click on the breed name and are taken to the WiKi page... WTH!?! Something screams subpar quality birds, and if you are going to get birds from hatchery.... at least get them from a hatchery that doesn't have a problem showing their business. I mean, Meyers, Cackle, My Pet Chicken.... they all have no problem with interviews and youtube videos and such.

And if quality is what you want... that is not the way to get it. ;)

Agree, I didn't like that at all. I also didn't like that they didn't have pictures of their birds on the website. But, when I call and ask what color of bantam cochins you have and you are looking at one that is 5 weeks old and say I think that one is gonna be black then I have a problem. Also, when I ask if they have calico or mill fluer cochins and you tell me that I am getting that color mixed mixed up with Golden Laced than we have a problem. Like I said not very good vibes. And anytime you are hatching that large of scale you are not breeding towards SOP. And, that is what I want to try and do. My birds aren't perfect, but I have a good start and would never put quanity over quality.

You hit the nail on the head... they have a crap ton of birds. That is it. Too many to even be bothered to take pictures of them. Be afraid.

Also their "dogs" page.... red flag: "We are not a puppy mill" --- Did someone say you were? Because I wouldn't assume someone is a puppy mill with one breed, so what are the locals saying about your care? (just how I think)

It reminds me of a guy who would come into TSC and buy wound care supplies, had jailhouse tats of pitbulls and blood all over his clothes.... wants us to know right away "I don't fight dogs! These puppies just try to kill each other when they get a bit older." Then he pulls out a roll of 100's and pays for his wound care supplies. Yeah, uh huh.

Rule #371 - If someone proclaims something like "I don't fight dogs" or "I'm not a puppy mill" then they most likely are just that.

Anyone know who this order form belongs to? I had been recommended to him this past Summer but. I saved this to a file this summer because this guy doesn't sell after may. I had heard he had show quality Salmon Faverolles. I just didn't happen to save any of his contact info with it.

I think that may be Duane Urch in Wisconsin. I have been so many places it's hard to remember. But, he does have great quality.

Yes, but I am not going to do it. I am trying to only buy from show quality breeders or good breeders. And I don't mean that snobbish at all, but I would like to hatch and sell chicks later. I want to start off with the best I can find. And I just didn't get a good vibe. I also looked on here and there are a couple of threads. I just didn't like the conversation I had with the person there. Couldn't really answer my questions on what colors they had when they were looking at the chicks that were several weeks old. Not a good sign.
Then it's the guy I thought it was, neighbor bought from him before. He told him he had RIR for sale and sold him some barely what I would call "red" anything to him... Looked almost like NHR mixed with Buff Orps... they were NOT RIR.

And to think I thought I had too many breeds. I don't even have enough to match the number of breeds on the smallest listing.

How can any group actually take care of that many breeds effectively with out breeding sub standard.
I'm not saying it can not be done, just wondering HOW it can be done.

Oh BTW I have no ideal who this is or where they are located. Just needed to blow some steam.

I counted at least 70 breeds or colors.

@ dncarr09- that's it! Duane Urch is the breeder
@ talbott poultry- That is what I thought but, I have only heard good about him, there were a couple of chicks I couldn't find from anyone else so, I wanted to give him a try.
