Thanks so much for all your feedback....please keeping your ideas and suggestions coming. Great idea about the raffle. I am going to check with our local feed stores for donations when we start finalizing things.
Stanglover...I was shooting for May of next spring but that usually month has a lot of shows in the area. Am giving myself a year to get the area ready and everything planned. Something like this is a bit of work and I want to make sure there is enough time to prepare.
So..I think end of April. I want to put a couple ads in local newpapers. Depending on the costs I may have to charge $5-10 for spots to set up...do all of you think this is fair?? Also will have the cost of Porta-Potty which I think is around $15. The excess money could go into the raffle for a drawing. I hope to find 2 crafters and of course we will have those who are setting up that also will have craft items to sell. The vendor I talked to does BBQ. Those of you close to Jefferson City are familiar with Fat Daddys BBQ. It is out of this world!! I may try to find one more food vendor..maybe a group like Girl Scouts or something like that for the other one.
If there is anyone willing to give a talk on raising, care or just plain chicken information I think it would be nice for those attending who are new at this. I know some of you here are very well versed in this. Also...would like to have a show for best chicken costume.
Whew...this is getting big!
I use to coordinate events and had forgotten how much "pre-function" work there is. With BYC and other free sources I think we can get the word out. The more successful this is the better it can become each year. It also would promote to others the advantages of what we do. And YES to those who would like to help...there is never enough hands for something like this even if it is small!
AJ....you are really close to me....I use to live in Ingram Heights just off Talbott-Kansas.
OK...keep em coming!
