OK, I need you to create an audio track of all the reasons I am going Sunday so I can play it on an MP3 player the entire time I'm there. You seem to know just what to say...

In my defense, I usually don't humanize my birds. (I definitely can be accused of doing that with my dog) But with them it's the fact that they are NOT human that gets in my way. They are innocent, defenseless animals that I am responsible for keeping safe. I know that they have a way more comfortable life and maybe even death because of my existence but I loose sight of that sometimes under the weight of my responsibility.

Wow. We just took a serious turn...

On a lighter note, I just got in contact with someone who is working on Orps and needs... yep... a black cockerel! And what do you know! I have some!! She has been breeding Ameraucanas for a while and would be willing to trade me some pullets. WOOT! I guess it's not all bad that I missed the show since one of my plans for that day was to sell my two lonely Ameraucana boys. I am just giddy!

But, Bairo... That means that you're not the only one that broke the two breed rule, now...

LOL....I guess Ill have to completely split the coop in two now anyway. one for breeder dels and one for layers. There goes the riding lawnmower under a tarp it looks like (darn it) Ill need that space for rooster seg. and a brooder box. Frank got all worked up even seeing those other roos and it through him into full molt. He looks worse by the minute. My world is coming down I tell you...its either the chickens or more meds...im leaning towards more meds

Bairo, I consider my chickens part of my meds. So that means I need more birds and fewer pills, right?

I have to really sharpen everything before next cull day. Sharp knives means less guilt for me. I'm still worried I'm causing too much pain. Once I get better at the techniques, everything will go faster.

Btw, I am enjoying the discussion. Serious is okay once in awhile.

Here is a thought... and forgive me if it's not the best one because I jst got home from work....

We kinda know each other (the group in whole)... why don't we set up a processing day where we get together at someone's house and BYOC (bring you own chickens) and we do together. No wussing out.

Ok. I didn't think it through, it just came to me this moment. I'm going to sleep. Discuss.

Good point. I was talking to this old timer yesterday in TSC and he was saying how although he is retired now that he still goes out to the coop to sit "A spell" to make the problems of the world go away for a while. He said that was the only way he stayed sane while working at the factory for 45 years. He was about 90 and got on pretty darn slow....he sure does love his chicken TV though

I'm sorry I can't help it. I bought my first 6 chickens 2 weeks before I got laid off. Those chickens help me keep my sanity. Until the company was ready to bring me back. We became our own mobility company and it took a month and half. Before I was back in office. I spent a lot of time with those chickens during that time and even took in my moms 4. Because she was having problems with bears at her house. I set in the backyard and watched them. My husband thought I was loosing it.
