Well, it could be as simple as having something caught in his throat (like a piece of grass or hay), or gapeworm or ?? Grab him and pry his mouth open and take a gander inside

Love the rabbits do not care for the gpigs. Had a friend down in FL that raised them outdoors. She could never sell them but when she finally found someone she got rid of them. Too costly to fed when you have over 10. I just can't see hairless being a big seller at all. To each their own thing. Good luck with those.

Guinea Pigs are actually pretty popular these days. I have a friend with a pet store, so if all else fails, she can have any "extras" to sell there.

The skinny pigs definitely require a special "niche". People either love them or hate them.

@nellabean, Squea!!!! i miss the dancing and noises they made, and the one female who loved to be tickled and would squeal in delight and lick at you like a nerotic little pupppy as you did it then not leave you alone all day, but happy my piggles are safer outside, and able to be inside close to new owners and groups of piggles again (they do best and seem happiest in large troups and will run around alot in single file lines like giant ants, and assume theyd be better than sheep or goats to have heard of as lawn mowers as mine were). they do take some extra care it seems more so than the bunnies.

what was one of the conversations/diseases bairo was in, were the disease was causing lameness, leg, and joint problems as so far ideas are: phenomena, uri, cocci, salmonella, and forget any others, or was just general bacterial infections, but thought one was mereks or something.. ???

try to get him as he is shaking his head or just after. If it is gape worms, you might see them then but not always. One of those little key ring mag lights work pretty good for peering down the throat, worms are red and Y shaped attached to the side of the throat. If you pick him up and feel rattling in his throat and no other signs of respiratory infection, then it is gape worms. The fluffed up hen could be round worms, but may not be anything. Is her comb pale?

OK....everyone remember a few pages back when some of us started worming our chickens when Bario shared with us? I had wondered if eggs during the 10 day waiting period on eggs could be fertile and if they would develop. I am a natural born scientist so...I really like seeing what can work and what won't..course many times that is how we learn. I had 3 eggs that I gathered days 2&3 and 1 on day 5. With light in hand I candled the eggs last night. 5 of the six have embryos!!! The 6th egg, being the last gathered, is probably not quite to the point of my seeing veining. So..now we will see if they continue to develop and if they make it to lockdown. I also had an additional 3 eggs from the day before worming. I have some LG eggs, 5 days into the waiting period, in the incubator too but just put them in 3 days ago to see if they will develop that far. I was totally surprised that I had embryos. So...we will see what happens from here!!!

I cannot wait to start hatching....but I am going to have to keep myself into check this year. I had a multitude last year!!!

after a day of processing 16 freedom rangers age 12 weeks average weight 5 lbs some weighed more a couple weighed less. Sooo glad that journey is over. Everything is in cooler iced down area cleaned up, all put in their little vac seal bags. I had hoped for better but wrong time of year but not bad really.
After got everything cleaned up went to put chickens up got spurred by my top roo got some serious scratches on 1 leg.He raises those hackles again he will get processed I ain't fighting with no d@#* roo!! Got a backup roo who is a whole lot less squirrely. Glad I could grab a rake or it would have been really ugly he just kept coming.Don't know what got into him ?? Like a scene out of some comedy screaming for the ole man help swinging a rake at the roo trying to get to the door of the run. I was kinda like that's the last time you get any scratch I was sprinkling scratch on the ground so I could get a head count.
