Well I hadn't though of that. LOL

try to get him as he is shaking his head or just after. If it is gape worms, you might see them then but not always. One of those little key ring mag lights work pretty good for peering down the throat, worms are red and Y shaped attached to the side of the throat. If you pick him up and feel rattling in his throat and no other signs of respiratory infection, then it is gape worms. The fluffed up hen could be round worms, but may not be anything. Is her comb pale?

Nope not pale. Did notice another hen with a pale one. Maybe they do have worms. I had bought some wormer the last time I was at tractor supply. But hadn't used it yet. By the time we got back from Knoxville it was dark. I'm going to catch that roo tomorrow after work and see if anything is in there.

Hey, Stang. I think you were thinking of me when you said you thought someone was interested in some Langshan. I loved them at the show and they definitely appeal to my supersized-chicken obsession. I just can't do another breed right now.

I don't know why I never thought of this before, but HappyMtn gave me a wonderful excuse to get more chickens. She added to OE to our trade because I could put them in the Wheatie pen and still know which eggs to hatch. How genius is that!?!?! Now I can get a couple of dark egg layers to put in with the Wheaties, and maybe put an EE or two in with the Orps, and maybe a white layer in with the dottes... OOOOH, the wheels are turning...

I have a Blue and a Splash (splash is one who bit me) I think they just need to be handled more, I was quite busy with school this semester (but got A's in both my classes!) and so they're not as calm as most of the chickens I raised through the spring/summer were. I got them as eggs from a friend that I buy my bunnies from (known her many years to consider her family) she's going to try and get me started in frizzles instead.. but she'll have more Langshan eggs after winter stops. Her rooster is shown at the TN valley fair each year.

Ubless I had a hen I wpuldnt know what to do with him. Lol. All my birds are sectioned off by breed.
