I swung by our Morristown TSC today and just happened to catch Jake, the manager there. He is excited about the swap meet next weekend. He said they have done some good advertiseerment. They even got the woman who organizes the one in Kingsport..which is huge..to come down and help with some PR. They are not charging for spaces this time mainly because they know there may not be a lot of people show up at the first couple. But....he said they will just keep trying to have them and they will grow like Kinsports did. I have tried a few times to get a space there and they fill up so quick have not been successful.
I noticed they have Rooster Booster products! A lot of vitamins and supplements for chickens. Jake is trying to get Oxine but the headquarters are digging their heels in on that so far.
The hours is 9-2. If you have questions call Kayla at 865-228-8447. She is coordinating the swap. It will be to the right of the parking lot when you enter.
They are also having a Tractor Show on Oct. 6....8-4....call store at 423-581-6000 for more details. Some time after that a big cook-out.
Well..everyone have a good and safe weekend. I am going to middle TN and in hopes the weather is nice.

The TS in Maynardville has started carrying a lot of new items, too. I wonder if the manager at your store passed the word?

Okay here's the only 2 EEs I kept. I am really hoping one is a pullet but it is probably wishful thinking. I am posting pics to see who bursts my bubble first.

Sorry not the best pictures but it was getting late. They are 13 weeks old. Its hard to tell in the pics but one's comb is red & the others is not. I checked the hen I think they came from & she does not have very round saddle feathers. I am almost positive the one on the right in firs pic is a roo but I don't know about the other one. Thanks

Lets call the one on the left A & one on right B:

Below is A

This is B

In this pic you can see the difference in their tail feathers. Chick A is on top
and Chick B's back & tail.
I am leaning towards them both being boys.

B is definitely a boy and A is looking like a slower-to-develop boy to me. I hope I'm wrong!

The babies are here. I met Daphne this afternoon & picked up 4 beautiful babies. There are 2 black & 2 blue. I have one loud mouth in the group. They made the ride home just fine & within a few minutes were checking out the new house. They are eating, drinking & pooping pretty much everything chickens do except sleeping yet.

Thank you so much & I will do my best with them.

Here's a pic of when I first put them in the "brooder"

Awwwww. They look right at home.

You should have seen my broody when I got back. She was sitting on her little splash chick, glaring at me. It's like she was saying, "I just DARE you to try to take this one!"

Had a good 1st day at the fair, my solid senior doe got BOV of 26.

Heard there will be a guy with 470 something cochins this year
th.gif
I hear there will be some for sale so will be buying me some cochins!!! lol

Bairo - Frederick isn't a show cock, his tail is not right for a cochin... oh wait, sorry I meant tennesseeckn...
tongue.png
So, I may be getting me a replacement cock... anyone want a friendly Cochin rooster? He's still very easy to handle and a big gentleman to the ladies...

I'm not surprised that Frederick's not up to standard. He came from McMurray and was supposed to be a pullet. I still think he's handsome, though. If my bachelor pens weren't already full...

Sorry I have been gone so long.
Have had a LOT going on in personal life.
Had not been on in over two weeks even to keep up.
Took forever to catch up on everyones post.

To all the newcomers I want to welcome you to our FAMILY.
I said family because this is not just a forum or group.
We are like family to each other. We share our worries.
We share our joys. We share experiences.
We share so very much.

@bario and stang, my guess on 100,000 views is November 22, @ 9:45 pm.

@barnqueen, Sorry that you have not caught that varmit yet.
Sounds like we need to bait and then several of us get to get together and show off our handheld home defense. I know that you do NOT like to harm and creature but sometimes it becomes a nessary evil.

@bario, I keep trying to win the lottery, to be able to build the "Dream" coop. I like the way you think but IF (and that is a BIG IF) you are going to have to think MUCH BIGGER. Don't forget that I have A LOT of different breeds.

@bario when is the fall show is in Newport. I had it somewhere but I lost it.

I am also glad to hear that TSC in Morristown is going to hold a sales event. We have needed something like that in our area for quiet some time.

@Sistachick, I agree that the first one is male and the other two are female.

@littlechicklet, but I can not tell on the two you are showing, they are in my can not tell age range.
Look at the inside if their leggs and see if there are little bumps starting to form, a sure sign of males.
Also the best trucks are "Priceless" but they are great to have around.

@grawg, Love the pics, like the ducks but sorry you can not turn be back to the duck side. Not sure if I told you or not but years ago my mom had over 300 and I kinda got burnt out on them. I suppose we had the wrong breeds because they did not lay eggs that well. It was so long ago the I do not even remember which breeds we did have.

@15littlem, I have Marans, two breeds but do not have anything for sell right now. Well I suppose I would sell my breed stock. I have a quad of French Black Marans, that I would consider selling. These are 3rd generation Bev Davis.

He gave me a copy of the email he sent them and he was oretty much to the point about the area,,,,so I would think they may be looking at the East TN area as a whole. when I talked to him yesterday he said that they where getting ready to reset that area so more new products may be added. I noticed from last week a lot of slots where empty...especially the Rooster Booster vitamins..etc. so...I am sure they are seeing that it is a good choice in offering more products.

Glad to see you back...I was really becoming concerned to see so many of our regular members not here. No...I do not like to hurt animals BUT,..the last 2 where my SG pair that where high quality. They where show quality and the eggs that I get from this breeder run me well over $100 per. doz. So...this was a huge loss for me and a costly one. When I do catch the weasel...it is not going to be pretty. Strange he has disappered cause off all 6 traps,,not a one was touched. So..I will just keep trying.
Jake said if the sale does wel they are going to try to move up to 2 per month..but gotta get attendance built up first, So....everyone come!!!!!!!!!1

@tnbarnqueen: you think it is a weasel? Weasels just drain blood. Husband said you'd have to have live bait to catch them. He's known as Billy the Exterminator in our area. We constantly get calls to catch stuff. (it gets old to me) You use honey buns for racoons, peanut butter and crackers for ground hogs, but have to have live bait for weasels.

We keep a feeder bucket full of crushed m&m's from Madisonville for a racoons. He takes the males off to the lake, but lets the females go behind our house in the woods. We have a game camera on them and watch them. We have five babies that were born in summer on it now.

We have a pair of foxes, but they don't travel down our way. There are coyotes here. We have a huge trap for them. You also have to use live bait. Coyote trap has a trap inside for bait. Husband made a mistake of bringing home two bunnies to use in trap. We now have a rabbit hutch and a rabbit run. lol We are a "no kill" family. But if I HAD to, I would take out the coyotes. That is meat on a hook. But we've not had a problem with them yet.

I hate that you lost so much. These little peeps are too expensive to get killed.

Ok, I was wrong, the guy at the fair who brought 430 chickens actaully brought several different breeds all for sale at $10 each. I bought me a nice pair of cochins, so Frederick needs a home bad now...
