Ok..so all my eggs are in now after some crazy moments. I have built 4 cooler bators now and have always had really good results. The worst temp swing I have ever had was 1 degree. I had this big stryofoam box from a meat company that is about 2 inches thick and man did I have high hopes for that thing. Long story short, no matter what I did I was getting 4 degree temp swings

After being up nearly all night I finally just crowded the new ones in with my other batch in my favorite cooler-bator...and that one was a walmart special for 18.00 but it holds about a 0.5 degree swing on the temp.

I had 19 eggs already in & due to hatch the 11th. I dropped 22 more from what I just received which should hatch on the morning of the 26th. With this weather, yea there goes the elect. bill.

Hint on the chickens I'm hatching..lets see who is good enough to guess?

I'll need my blue gene breeding chart

Since you said no to the Araucana then my guess is the Cream Legbar. I was really hoping for the Araucana

You want to look for
Penicillin 300,000 units per ml. (your only going to need 6ml. total for 9 chickens)

tractor supply or most co-ops should have it in the refrigerated section.
Dosage on a full sized chicken is 1/4 ml (max) in the breast muscle every other day for three shots. I.E. Monday-Wednesday-Friday so each one ends up with a max of 3/4 ml over five days
It is really thick stuff so I doubt a needle smaller than a 20 ga. will work well. Look for the shortest 20 ga needle you can find. Right in the center of the breast, far from bone and no deeper than a 1/4 inch. Your trying to get it into the muscle fully, but reduce the risk of injury by going too deep. You also need the smallest syringe you can find (1 ml.) most pharmacies will give you one for free.
We got it. We are on it. Thank you Bairo for all your help. What would I do without you? I owe you something.

Which pennicillin did you get? There are 2 types...the short lasting and the long lasting (which is boxed for cattle..I use that type on my horses per my vets advice) I have to who have terrible head colds since I was gone and I just cannot afford to loose this pair of Show Girls..it is my last almost adult pair..thanks to the minx!!!!!!!!!

Came from Tractor Supply and is Norocillin. Norbrook brand. 300,000 units per ml. We got the 20 gage 1/2 needle. Worked perfect.

We brought in my favorite rooster. He is my baby. I love this chicken more than I love my own dog that has lived with me for the last 8 years. I was so afraid that he was not feeling well. He looks fine. Eyes look good. No runny nose. Feet look fine. No spots on his waddle or comb. But he's been walking around with his head sunk down for 24 hours. Tommy and I waited for him to get on the roost and get settled. Brought him in, put him on the kitchen counter and gave him a shot. He did great. Then, because I love him so much, I got lettuce out of the frig, dipped it in yogart and let him eat on my kitchen counter. The whole time Tommy was shaking his head at me like I'd lost my mind. Just for safe measures we gave him a syringe of water. (fyi: we traded out their waterer yesterday because they had metal waterer and looked rusty. We got a plastic one yesterday in case they weren't drinking. The water gets changed every day, but it always looks rusty. blech)

Bairo, this is me hugging you. You people are the greatest thing ever. I want to do something for you all. Just don't know what yet. Let me think on it.
When I took Plymouth back to the chicken run to put him on his roost, he jumped up on my shoulder instead. He wanted to come back inside I think. I love him. (please note the white spot on his comb. That is yogart. lol)
