#1 They are too cute. I'm with littlechicklet, I love the photos. The first few photos, the look in their eyes are priceless. Kind of like "what the heck is going on?"

#2 Told Tommy today that I found an ad in one of the chicken magazines where I can order diapers for the chickens. Told him I thought I could bring Plymouth in for the winter. It was at this point that he didn't know I was joking, and he decided to explain to me that I had lost it.
Why not!?! lol Lots of people have them! Maybe not lots.... some people.

Mark told me a couple of days ago that he did his best to make the coop as strong as he could so I wouldn't lose anymore of my chickens but he continued to tell me that he can't help it if a tornado comes through and hits it, I said, no no, don't worry I will have the chickens inside with me!!!! Shoulda seen the look on his face!
Durring the tornado that skipped over me and landed back off of Hwy 68 going to Tellico (I know you know where I am talking).... my one coop is set in a way the wind caught the roof and started to lift it. I ran out, in that weather and pushed back. All I could think about was those poor chickens getting tossed around. You would think i look back and say "I'll never pull that again" but not at all... they are my responsiblity and I won't let them down. Just the way I am.

And for the record... I know how to say ooltawah... ool (like tool) ta (like Ta-da) wah (like wah lol!).

Oh my!!!! you & me both
Just looked at that CL add and wishing I didn't. Makes me want to take them just to get them clean water!!! I need to get 503C status and just make a shelter. But I would be overwhelmed in no time. Less than a week I could fill up all the space. Then get someone to adopt a chicken.... it ain't easy!

ETA... OMG I seen the rabbit... Yes, that probrably is his cage since it has a bowl in it. Doesn't surprise me, really. Guy at the flea market was telling people (trying to sell bunnies) that the best housing for a rabbit (HIS WORDS!) is a rubbermaid container with some air holes. ***!!?! I reported it to HSUS but I don't know if anything came of it. I'm sorry. I mind my own business but for someone to be pushing inbred rabbits on people and then telling them that when they say they cannot afford to care for it properly is WRONG.

WHY DID YA'LL GET ME GOING!??!!

Yup that is the rabbits home.... look at the poo. OMG!!! YA'LL GOT ME FIRED UP!!! Where is the number to report this sh** again!?!

I did this my first year with my first chickens... It worked keeping the water from freezing, but it was HELLA HOT! And going back to my original statement of heat being bad for chickens that are in and out.... I didn't do it again. I just have two waterers for every coop. In the winter I change them out. I have a full basement that makes this possible. Bring frozen in, allow them to thaw, then change them out. Not ideal, but it was we did over time. Someone told me once they put salt in their water, but I do not recommend trying that. I don't know how safe it is, but they do it.

I have never done chicks in the Fall. They are 4 weeks now so they will need heat for a while yet. I am cutting it by 5 degrees each week. With the temps falling when will they be able to do without the heat lamp? week 1-95, 2-90, 3-85, 4-80, 5-75, 6-70, 7-65, 8-60, 9-55...would I just keep counting down and keep them cooped with the heat lamp? I hate to think of them being inside until Spring!

As far as my waterers go I have 1 of the electric heating pans you sit the waterer on. Last year my metal one went bad & I was too cheap to buy one so I put a plastic pan on it & it worked all Winter. I may invest in another electric heater for the second pen.

Sorry! LOL, I guess it caught me off guard, it's one thing for the water for the chickens... I usually overlook those kind of things, but when I saw the rabbit kinda ****** me off.. Now as far as "inbreeding" goes, the best show rabbits are from what we call LINE breeding... which in my opinion IS inbreeding, but it does bring out the best features of your lines usually... and I will be doing it, because breeding different lines even if they are both nice rabbits can create some of the worst looking rabbits... I've known breeders to have to cull the whole litter from breeding new lines in because sometimes they don't mix well.
