I never actually got to treat BB because I was ignored but I'd start with soaking her and doing research. I know there are correction videos on you-tube but sometimes they aren't the most pleasant for the chicken. How long has she been like this?

If she's had it for a while, it's unlikely egg binding.
She would be dead by now if she still wasn't able pass an egg.
Egg binding stops them being able to pass waste. They can only last so long like that.

Whatever it is, it's not very comfortable looking.

Thats what my BB had and it really was an egg and organs, it was pushed down to s sack somehow, expanding the skin but still allowing her to poop

Ugh I can't find what I had before. My mom had done the research when everyone finally listened. Is there a way to go to a vet?

I'm sorry about BB, it sounds like you are describing Internal Laying, Peritonitis or similar. This is when there is egg or egg matter in the abdomen. There can also be a symptom of fluid (Ascites) in the abdomen too. Unfortunately there is no cure and really no correction unless there is fluid which can sometimes be drained to give temporary relief. Sadly, these conditions can be common in laying hens.

Even if there was no cure BB acted fine even up to the end when she was splitting open so Bertha does have more time so you choose to let her. I'm sorry

I dont know her full story. As far as I know, she had a clean bill of health before we got her. I gave her rump a warm bath today. Dont know if that did anything. She still seems normal/fine, is not being bothered or pecked at by the others, and is not even the lowest in the peckin order. That would go to the...Australorp?
