You need to move the eggs around so when they start to grow in the egg, they do not become attached to the shell itself. A hen will move eggs around when she is laying on them from time to time, so must you in an incubator.

so are they supposed to move but in place or roll around?

there are many different ways to do it. in mine they stay in place and I turn them by hand. Some people will put their eggs into a tray, or even an egg carton and just tilt it back and forth to move it around.
