I've got two pair of peafowl. I bought them as "juveniles" last April. That was "6 month to a year old".
Most of what I know about peafowl I learned by reading here.
I guessed their age at close to a year when I got them, so they *should* be ballpark of two years old now.
I was hoping to get eggs next session, and if I got really lucky maybe even hatch a couple. Yesterday I collected 2 eggs. There's nothing else near them that could lay something like this, I'm certain that they're peafowl eggs.
With the understanding that the birds are probably 2 years old, are there decent odds of them being fertile? A couple days ago I witnessed one of the pairs mating. That was the first I'd witnessed it, but I presume that means they've been at it. Also both genders have been displaying occasionally.
I'm in no hurry for peachicks, though I certainly could accommodate them if these were to hatch. On the other hand, I have no qualms about finding out what peafowl eggs taste like either.
Is there a consensus to how likely these might be to hatch?
Many thanks!
