My grandfather was a Scotts-Irish immigrant who came to this country around World War I. One of his traditions was eating a duck egg on New Year's Day for good luck throughout the new year. He was pretty adamant about this and it became more and more difficult as Westchester County in New York went from rural to suburban/urban over the course of his lifetime. I remember him calling my dad to help in his search. I have googled this searched BYC and have come up with nothing. Has anyone heard of this tradition?
P.S. In honor of grandpa, I've secured some duck eggs to assure a good year for my family.

I'm glad you were able to find some duck eggs, mine haven't laid one since Oct. good thing I'm not superstitious. here in the south it's hog jowels, black eyed peas and collard greens and cornbread. But we don't even do that.
