I'm not sure what is going on. I have a 2.5 year old Polish hen who started crowing shortly after my rooster's favorite hen died. She also stopped laying eggs. Does anyone know why she would be acting like this?

She doesnt seem to have physical male characteristics and hasnt mounted any other hens. I was thinking she was trying to get the rooster to leave her alone. Can you post a picture of her? Sometimes a tumor on an ovary can result in hormonal changes that make a hen take on male characteristics - male specific feathering, crowing, mating hens - they do not become fertile roosters only take on the appearance and actions. I have only ever seen it happen one time in a friend's flock.
