Eating cracked egg??

Hi, probably a dumb question from a newb here... My girls started laying a couple of weeks ago. One always moves the hay out of the way and lays it on hard wood. Well today I got the egg about 2 min after she laid it, it has a crack, and I put it in a pot to boil it immediately. Is it OK to eat? I figured I shouldn't eat ones that are cracked that have sat around awhile, but how about a fresh one?

I don't see why it would be bad. heck, i even eat eggs that come in the mail slightly cracked.
