My chickens are eating some of my eggs before I can get to them. Any idea to stop this from happening?
I am planning to pickle eggs and i need alot of eggs but it doesn't help if they keep eating them.

i have a couple ideas... you can try putting curtains around your chicken's nest. if it's dark, they can't see, and therefore can't peck. there are chicken sunglasses you can buy for the same reason. you can try feeding them cooked eggs, they may be pecking eggs to get some nutrient that they need. they won't assosiate cooked eggs with raw. i guess you could put a golfball in their nest in replace of an egg. i've never tried it, but i imagine that they would peck it, find that there isn't any yolk, and give up. i hope you can solve your problem!

I have found that not much helps, and the longer it goes on, the more the others learn this bad behavior. The best thing I've done is install a game camera, find out who is doing this and send them to freezer camp. Works great.
