Just curious why our 26 12 week old chickens go crazy over eating their own feathers?

crumbles, scratch, peanuts, cookies, no thanks I'd rather eat my own feathers.....

I have no idea but it is really funny to see a white feather floating through the air and my chickens scrambling to get it. By the time its in someones mouth its already down the hatch:)

This often indicates a deficiency of a specific aminoacid called METHIONINE... go to your petsotre and in the bird section look for a supplement for molting...make sure it has this ingredient in it. Then get a good poultry supplement like AviaCharge 2000 (purchas online from McMurray or Strombergs) and give this to your birds...it is a complete supplement and when given regularly should ensure that any deficiencies do not occur.
